Couples Therapy · Lincoln, Nebraska

You've been trying to fix this. Let's find what's actually driving it.

Most couples who come to us have already tried talking more, fighting less, and promising to do better. It didn't stick — not because they failed, but because nothing addressed what was underneath the pattern.

Where couples are when they call

What brings most couples through our door

Couples come to us at all different stages — some in acute crisis, some just sensing that something has quietly gone wrong. What they share is the feeling that the same problems keep surfacing, no matter how hard they try.

The same argument on repeat
Different topic, same fight. You both know the script. Nothing ever changes, and the resentment builds with every round.
Growing apart
The fighting stopped — but so did the warmth. You're roommates now. Polite, functional, and lonely in a way you can't quite explain.
Rebuilding after an affair
Trust is shattered. You need someone who can hold both possibilities while you figure it out. Our affair recovery counseling focuses on rebuilding trust after betrayal.
One person ready, one not
You want this. Your partner isn't sure. That's more workable than it sounds — change almost always starts with one person. Starting with individual therapy is often a productive first step.

Our approach

How we work — and why it's different

After 46 combined years in the therapy room, we've learned something most couples never get told: understanding the problem isn't enough. Your nervous system has to learn a new response — that's what we train for. We draw on three evidence-based frameworks, chosen because they work where change actually happens.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
Addresses the attachment patterns underneath the conflict — the fears and needs that drive the cycle.
Gottman Method
Research-based tools for reducing destructive patterns and building friendship, trust, and genuine connection.
Pragmatic Experiential Therapy
Works directly with nervous-system responses — building your capacity to react differently when triggered.
Individual capacity work
Before communication skills can work, each person needs the self-regulation to use them. We build that foundation first.

What to expect

No pressure. No judgment. No homework before you arrive.

You'll work with Greg Gross or Leslie Richardson, both licensed marriage and family therapists. In your first session, your therapist gets to know your story — what's brought you here, what you've tried, and what you're hoping for. They'll share their initial read of the patterns they're seeing, and together you'll sketch a realistic path forward. You'll leave knowing what the work would look like, how long it typically takes, and what success would actually mean for you.

Most insurance accepted. We file your claim directly — you pay only your co-pay or deductible. Self-pay is $150 per session.

The first call is just a conversation.

No commitment. No pressure. We'll listen, answer your questions, and help you figure out if we're the right fit.
